(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 01, 2009 ) Cary, NC - Smithfield’s Chicken N Bar-B-Q recently hosted fundraisers for Relay For Life of Vance and Chatham Counties. The company held “Spirit Nights” in their Henderson and Siler City locations, where 25% of the sales from those nights were donated to each county’s Relay For Life chapter.
"Relay For Life is such a great activity because it involves an entire community," said Richard Averitte, director of marketing for Smithfield’s Chicken N Bar-B-Q. “We like to think our stores are a part of those communities and we feel we should do our part,” he added.
Relay For Life is the American Cancer SocietyÂ’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
