(Food-Beverage-News.Com, January 04, 2016 ) Fort Worth, Texas -- No1Cook is looking to the year ahead and has made some predictions about food trends in American for 2016. They have all had their fun with coconut water, cupcakes and the fabulous food trucks, but it is time to make room for some new trends. No1Cook predicts Americans will embrace the following in 2016:
1. Delivery options will explode. They are talking here not just about delivery of groceries to the home, but restaurant deliveries to the home, office, sporting field, childcare centre! Also, fast food, restaurant fine dining, fresh produce from farmers and a simple coffee delivery via "middle men" companies all organised online and delivered quickly to a date night, a meeting at the office or to busy mums at home.
No1Cook considers a further opportunity within this trend to be meal kits where people will have all the ingredients prepared and delivered and the consumer will basically put the meal together. The kits will be tailored to different lifestyles and needs such as paleo, gluten free and diabetic and marketed to the time poor but health conscious consumer who wants a good quality easy dinner option.
2. The rise of the cooking apron The neutral cooking apron will rise in the apron ranks in 2016 with people putting together their meal kits at home. As the kitchen is nowadays less of a women's domain, the frilly girly aprons are in less demand and the jokey men's aprons are not always what male cooks are looking for. This has created a gap for a good quality, adjustable, unisex bib apron.
3. Sugar is on the Outer Sugar is now the top item that consumers are trying to decrease in their diets as consumers return to eggs, avocados and oils with recent research showing the nutritional benefits of certain fats. Americans are already cutting back on soft drinks and fruit juices and shifting away from sweetened snacks to fresh fruit or savory items. No1Cook is predicting this trend will grow in 2016 with restaurant menus featuring "clean meals" with little sugar and cafes expanding their low sugar dessert ranges.
4. Seaweed is the new essential superfood Popular in Japanese diets, seaweed is a No1Cook hot prediction for 2016 as more nutrition conscious Americans consider what will be the next superfood.
5. Bye Bye Pasta Perhaps not a steep decline, but it looks like America will follow Australia, Europe and even Italy with a decline in supermarket pasta sales. America saw a small decline in 2015 and No1Cook are predicting a further decline in 2016 as the vegetable spiralizers continue to sell like hotcakes and consumers look to vegetables like zucchini and carrot as pasta alternatives.
