The Lantana Smart Sharp Knife Sharpener Is Here Just In Time For Christmas

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, December 12, 2015 ) Birmingham, West Midlands, UK -- Lantana is introducing the "Smart Sharp Knife Sharpener" in time for the Christmas gift giving season. A sharp knife is a handy tool in any chef's kitchen. This applies to professional chefs and home gourmet cooks. The Lantana Smart Sharp Knife Sharpener is a three-stage manual system that will hone a fine edge to any blade. It comes with three sharpening surfaces; a ceramic stone, tungsten carbide plates, and a diamond rod. Add the ergonomically designed handle and non-slip rubber base; it sharpens knives efficiently and safely.

Three Stages of Sharp

The Smart Sharp Knife Sharpener has three stages for sharpening. The first step is preparation using the diamond rods. This roughs the knife-edge while at the same time smoothing out any nicks or other rough spots on the blade that would drag and cause the knife to slice unevenly. The second step is sharpening with the tungsten carbide plates. Even the dullest knife will cut well when its edge is sharpened to a "v". The third stage is honing with the ceramic stone rod. This removes burrs while polishing the blade to an edge that is razor sharp.

Benefits of Sharp Knives

That a sharp knife will slice food faster than a dull one is not news. Few issues will negatively affect a chef like a dull knife. Dull knives are one of the most common causes of stress injuries to the wrist, hands and arms. Putting undue pressure on these parts of the body as additional effort is needed to cut with a dull knife causes these injuries. A sharp knife reduces this stress and will prevent these types of injuries. Sharp knives make cooking easier and safer. Dull blades require more pressure that can lead to slipping, ragged cuts in food and fingers. A blunt edge doesn't cut crisp vegetables so much as wedge them apart; it mashes tomatoes; it presses out juices from meat and crushes bread flat.
