(Food-Beverage-News.Com, October 05, 2015 ) Foley, Alabama -- Go Green Ozarks Self-Reliance Festival will be celebrated on October 17th and 18th, 2015 at the Thayer City Park by the Rodeo Arena, Missouri. The main objective of the event is to support and promote sustainable lifestyle, local economy, heirloomgardening supplies, alternative renewable energy, and emergency preparedness. Thie festival organizer is Mike Slack, a homesteader, writer and veteran of US Army Intelligence.
Self-reliance vendors and experts will also be featured to provide seminars and demonstrations. The event is free of admission for the attendees, vendors, and exhibitors. Carnival rides and live music entertainment will also be conducted at the event. On the first day, the program starts from 9 am up to 6pm. On the second day, show starts from 10 am up to 6 pm.
According to Mike Slack, the event will be featuring over 150 visitors, 16 guest speakers and 3,000 or more in attendance. The featured professional educators will be discussing topics related to emergency-disaster preparedness, modern homesteading, bio diesel or alcohol fuel, residential steam engine, geothermal, alternative solar energy, bee keeping, herbal medicines, aquaponics, and gardening.
The participating event speakers are Dr. Mary Byrnes, Karl William Reid, Dave Lohr of Kosh Trading Post, Mike Brown, Dawn McPherson of Thayer on herbal medicines, Tim Stark will provide a talk on self-defense, Craig Wiles on Solar Power, Steve Driskol, Esteban Garcia and Nixa of Aquatech Food Support Systems, and more.
"One of our themes is promotion of our local economy," Slack said. "If you spend your money at Walmart, it goes to Bentonville, it leaves the area. But if you shop locally it circulates all around the region and stimulates the local economy. I buy my milk and eggs from my neighbor because not only is it a better product than what I find in the store it's keeping my money local.
