Research Shows Organic Food is no more rich in vitamins than regular counterparts reports NaturalCity.com.au

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, September 08, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - According to 240 studies done at the university of Stanford in California , Organic food doesn’t add any extra vitamin to their diet as compared to conventional diets. The only thing that we can benefit from organic food is what it doesn’t add to our diet. Organic food is $27 billion industry in the United States of America.

Organic foods are grown without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides and are grown with the help of Genetically engineered organisms. The studies indicated that food obtained from these sources are 30% less affected from pesticides or the trace levels are low.

According to Laura Batcha, executive vice president of the industry trade group, the finding highlights the importance of organic food. He said that the overuse of antibiotics can cause bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics in meat.

The reviewed studies highlighted the fact that organic food has no long term advantage over other conventional food. There is no proof that organic food can prevent diseases such as heart and cancer and the only thing that is more in organic food is phosphorus and very few people have this deficiency, according to Smith-Spangler.

“There wasn’t any strong evidence to support the idea that organic foods are significantly healthier,” said Crystal Smith- Spangler, the study’s lead author, in a telephone interview, according to Businessweek.com.

“This study confirms that choosing organic foods reduces consumers’ exposure to pesticide residues, and that the overuse of antibiotics in non-organic production leads to higher level of bacteria resistant to antibiotics in meat,” Batcha said in an e-mailed response to the website’s questions.
