Researchers find that Love Handles are more deadly than Obesity reports LowFatDietPlan.com

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, September 08, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - When it comes to maintaining health, the most important thing that comes to our minds is how much fat makes up our body weight, but according to the latest information we also need to know where exactly the fat resides in our body. According to the latest research on jdjournal.com, love handles have proven to be more deadly than overall obesity.

A new study by Dr. Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, a professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic, has tracked these facts.

According to the study, Dr. Lopez-Jimenez found that people with normal weight but having love handles, have over twice the ratio to die earlier. He also found that 12,785 Americans for 14 years, recorded not only the body mass index (BMI) but also their waist to hip ratio (WHR).

In simple terms, the research concludes that the obese members of the research are still safer then people who are normal weight but have heavy bellies or found love handles. Obesity has accounted for 1.4 times increase in the death rate as compared to love handles or pudgy belly, but according to the new research, it accounted for 2.1 times increase in the death rates.

This study might be astonishing for many, but still requires more research for confirmation, but according to Lopez-Jimenez,

“Stomach fat is correlated to instigations of insulin resistance in the body, which can lead to diabetes. The fact that visceral fat is next to the gut makes it highly active from a metabolic standpoint. So that, by itself, would cause inflammation and insulin resistance.”

Lopez-Jimenez also explains that,

“Fat in the legs and buttocks, on the other hand, is healthy. It seems to be exactly the opposite of visceral fat. He further explains, “The more fat in the legs, the better the profile: better cholesterol, lower glucose, lower triglycerides, and lower insulin.”

Still in all, this needs more research but to be on the safe side, it is worth it to keep control on the weight and do some exercise for leaner guts. Exercise is suggested as the best method in keeping the body well kept and healthy.
