New Research Shows itÂ’s Never Too Late to Start Exercising reports SportsKinetics.com

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, August 23, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- After an intense research on heart disease, medical experts have proved that getting enough exercise in midlife can help protect the heart. The experts studied 4,000 people and came to a conclusion that the people who start exercising during their midlife or even at their late 40s and 50s can still benefit from the exercise and protect their heart.

Exercise does not mean a hard one like in the gym. The experts say that even gardening and brisk walking in the morning or evening can do the job easily for the heart patients. These kinder, gentler forms of exercise can even help the normal people who have a desire to avoid heart problems in the future. According to the BBC report, the researchers believe that a 2.5-hour of moderate activity per week is enough to serve the purpose.

The study was conducted by the researchers’ team from the University College London under the supervision of Dr Mark Hamer. The basic objective of the study was to find a simple solution to heart problems through s physical activities.

However, the study is a on a relatively small group of people. It also covers the markers that are only linked to heart problems and not heart disease itself. The study is solely based on the research conducted through the people who kept accurately reporting how much exercise they did. The work is published in the journal Circulation, and recommends a 2.5-hour exercise a week to stay active and healthy.

Dr Mark Hamer said, “We should be encouraging more people to get active - for example, walking instead of taking the bus. You can gain health benefits from moderate activity at any time in your life.”

Meanwhile, the founder of the work, Maureen Talbot spoke, “Donning your gardening gloves or picking up a paint brush can still go a long way to help look after your heart health, as exercise can have a big impact on how well your heart ages.”

Despite including all other conditions in consideration such as obesity and smoking that could have influenced the results, the outcomes of the study did not change. According to Talbot, the research highlights the positive impact of exercise on the future of heart health of the people.
