Indonesia and Malaysia together account for over 85% of the world supply of palm oil.
In 2016, Indonesia produced 34.5 million tons of crude palm oil, a drop of 3% year-on-year due to the El Nino weather phenomenon. The 34.5 million tons of Indonesian palm oil that were produced in 2016 included 31.5 million of CPO and 3 million tons of palm kernel oil (PKO). In 2017, is is expected that Indonesia will produce 36.5 million tonnes of palm oil.
