(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 29, 2015 ) Vancouver, British Columbia -- The Food Network published an article in their ‘Healthy Eats' website entitled Coffee Creamer: Good or Bad??. It was explaining the pros and cons for people who consumed coffee creamer. The results were not favorable!
The article mentions how everyday creamer contains unhealthy, hydrogenated oils, thickeners, plus additional chemicals that come from artificial sweeteners. The article concluded, if consumers want a creamy taste, use good old fashioned cream! But what about those who don't want to add all the extra fat that comes with cream? Coconut oil is now becoming a popular alternative to cream and creamer.
"Like cream, it does have a bit of an oily top to coffee after it's mixed in but the taste is really nice and really it softens the taste of the coffee." says Product Manager for Clean Living Health & Beauty Products, William Ladic. "Many folks like the slight coconuty smell it adds to the coffee as well. The added bonus is that coconut oil has been found to be a natural appetite suppressant. So it may also curb you from having that sugary, baked good that is often added to one's java cup as an extra."
Clean Living boasts that their ‘That Healthy Skin Glow' line of Coconut oil is a wonderful multi-purpose addition to the daily cup-a-joe. The product is organic and boasts many uses.
The Food Network article states "For fans of real food, it's a little disheartening to see that these "creamers" contain no actual cream…"
More than half of the fats from coconuts are known as medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) - a type of fat that is more likely to be burned off as fuel, rather than stored on the body. The oil is also beneficial for anyone that is lactose intolerant and cannot consume any dairy products.
Ladic invites people who've never tried coconut oil in their coffee to give it a try to see how they feel in the morning and to test out the taste! "I'm quite sure that folks will enjoy it once they try it. I'd love to hear from anyone who takes on my suggestion of trying the oil in their daily coffee to see if actually curbs their appetite for sweets too! I've read that the oil can suppress appetite but I'm wondering if it would actually turn people off from eating sweets with their coffee? That would be an interesting experiment."
That Healthy Skin Glow coconut oil is sold on Amazon.
