(Food-Beverage-News.Com, May 15, 2015 ) Foley, Alabama -- The NOLA Veggie Festival was held on May 9-10, 2015 at New Orleans Healing Center, 2372 St. Claude Ave. On Day 1, activity starts 9 in the morning and closes 6 in the afternoon. Day 2 starts at noon until 6 pm. The event features organic products, heirloom vegetables, and food vendors, restaurants, cooking demonstrations, vegetable advocates and films.
The festival is organized by vegetarian or vegan enthusiasts and its main objective is to create an impact to the society, to conserve a healthy environment, promote sustainable lifestyles and animal rights as well. The program also exhibited vegan cuisine.
The NOLA Veggie Festival, which launched back in 2009, is a collaborative enterprise of the Humane Society of Louisiana. The lead sponsor of the fest is the New Orleans Food Co-op, which operates a public grocery store owned by the community at the New Orleans Healing Center.
The event's admission is $10 per donation at the door which includes a bundle of festival T-shirt, tote bag and organic product samples. Those moms get in free with their kids as an honor for Mother's Day on the 11th. The outdoor food vendor is admission-free and open for the entire public. The festival exhibited plenty of organic vegetables, fruits, as well as other heirloom products. The festival promotes vegetarian diet, vegan recipe, cruelty-free lifestyles, and Non-GMO products.
"Along with our programs to help cats, dogs, horses and other companion animals, we've been promoting compassion for all farm animals for more than 25 years," said Jeff Dorson the executive director and founder of the festival.
Aside from Humane Society of Louisiana, there's another group in the US that promotes organic products and heirloom seeds like the Victory Gardens. These heirloom seeds can be classified in different varieties at amazon.
