(Food-Beverage-News.Com, October 06, 2014 ) carrollton, georgia -- The Eisenhower Elementary School held a three-day after school jump rope camp at the school's gymnasium from September 22-24. The camp was meant to teach students fun tricks using the jump rope and improve their health in the progress.
The camp was led by Mary Lou Anderson, a former PE teacher of the school, and Karen Miller, the school's physical education teacher at the moment. Miller enlisted the help of Anderson, who once set up a jump rope performance team called The Leaping Lizards that disbanded right before she left her post at the school.
During the camp, the gymnasium was shaking due to the 65 students skipping up and down using the jump rope. The three-day camp was a hit and is now part of the year-long after school physical activity at the Eisenhower Elementary School this October, along with other fun activities such as dancing, volleyball, and running.
Given the turnout of events, there was no one else as pleased as Miller.
"It's very important for their health that they have these extracurricular activities because I think the kids today are so apt to go home and just sit in front of the TV, but if they see their teachers out and working, and they see the community working with them, then they know how important it is when they see adults actually participating in this," said Miller.
Anderson, who now works as a Kansas State Department of Education wellness coach and leader for Let's Move! Active Schools, believes in jump ropes as a way to improve fitness and academic performance. Anderson explains that the cross brain movement necessary in jumping rope stimulates the brain, which have an adverse effect to better grades.
While the JRP1, Jump Rope Pro's innovative crossfit jump rope system, isn't necessarily about increasing grade point averages, they are nonetheless all about improving the experience people have with the jump rope through this equipment. The braided cable rope is guaranteed to last a lifetime while the ball bearings that attaches the rope to the handles make it easier for people to complete difficult techniques like double- or triple-unders.
The JRP1 is available on Amazon for $26.99. Upon purchase, the free e-book is also included to provide users with the proper exercises and preparation using the jump rope.
