(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 17, 2014 ) Falmouth, Maine -- The Do-Be Products company has been the recipient of several reports complaints that the Do-Be brass grill brush can be subject to being destroyed when excessive force pressure is applied when scrubbing a grill where a lot of charred food remains after a cookout. Even though this rarely ever happens, it is a potential problem that owners of a brass grill brush ought to be aware of. Brass bristles, by their very nature, are more flexible than stainless steel bristles which are the most common alternative to brass. It is for this very reason that many grillers like the brass better, because that flexibility produces a much better cleaning action than is possible with stiff stainless steel.
According to the announcement by an official at Do-Be, "The use of ordinary pressure will almost always result in efficient cleaning of the grill. Too much pressure, which would be unlikely when applied by a person of ordinary strength, is likely to prevent getting the grill thoroughly cleaned, and, quite possibly, in ruin of the brush by permanent mashing of the bristles."
The company continues to warn of this potential problem in its promotional materials, yet every now and then a customer fails to heed the warning and then complains of a ruined brush. This is a sort of catch-22, because getting the best cleaning job on the grill clearly calls for a brass grill brush, but there is the natural tendency of people to apply extra elbow grease, thinking that this will do an even better job, even though the reality is that this is self-defeating.
