Kitchen Top Secret Ice Ball Maker Promotes A Way To Get Your Kids To Drink More Water

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, May 13, 2014 ) Phoenix, Arizona -- People are more and more focused on healthy foods and drinks, like water, that contain less sugar. This is due to the fact that there is a great concern about weight loss these days. There are articles, TV shows, books, and videos about diet fads, healthy living, recipes for weight loss, and more that have flooded the market.

Drinks are particularly tricky when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, especially when focused on weight loss. Why? Because some of things we think are healthy, really are not as healthy as thought. For instance, a nice healthy glass of orange juice in the morning is great for breakfast right? However, that glass of OJ contains almost as much sugar as a glass of cola - they are about 24g and 26g of sugar respectively.

Juice has to be preserved, otherwise it will spoil. To do this, all of the oxygen is sucked out of the juice so it can stick around for about a year without spoiling. Then, before it goes to market, it is injected with flavoring. This is why a particular brand always tastes the same no matter when or where it is purchased.

Having a citrus tree in the back yard and picking 4-5 oranges to squeeze for a glass of juice is not always the answer either. Think about trying to eat 4-5 oranges in one sitting. That is a lot of fiber and tends to be filling, so without the fiber, that glass of juice slides down with no problem. And with it, about one quarter of the recommended daily intake for sugar!

This is why Kitchen Top Secret promotes drinking more water. Water is incredibly important to the human body. It is composed of about 60% water, so drinking water helps to balance body fluids. The balancing of fluids means muscles become more energized and don't fatigue as easily. More water does wonders for your skin, helping it to be more elastic and youthful.

How much water should be consumed? A good rule of thumb is about one half of an ounce per pound of body weight. For example, a woman whom weighs 120 pounds should have about 60 oz of water each day. This is only a rule of thumb. There are many other factors such as extent of exercise, arid climates, etc. that affect water needs.

But simply drinking water can be boring and tiresome with it's virtual tastelessness. Kitchen Top Secret suggests using an ice ball mold to make flavored ice to drop into just about any drink.

To use the ice ball maker, pour in some fruit juice, or better yet add fresh fruit or mint or cucumber (the options are endless) and put it in the freezer. A little while later and the flavored ice balls are ready to serve. Now there can be different flavors in the water, making it more interesting to the tastebuds but not contain as much sugar that generally goes with drinking things like juice.

Kids seem to love it because it is like a treat to them, a sort of floating popsicle! They drink down the water before the flavored ice ball completely melts and come back for more. A little game can be made of it - How many glasses of water can be finished before the ice ball melts? Because of the spherical form, an ice ball actually melts slower than regular ice cubes or crushed ice, thus one ice ball can last a few glasses of water depending on the speed of consumption.

Kitchen secrets are not always about great recipes. Sometimes it is about knowing the true value of what is being consumed.
