(Food-Beverage-News.Com, April 14, 2013 ) Vancouver, Canada -- While pole-dancing fitness is likely everything one would imagine it to be, Chantelle Beasley emphasizes that it also nothing quite like what many assume. Yes, it can be sensual, as there are terms used like “allowing your hands to wander across the body, but it is also an incredibly dedicated workout type. Despite what some may feel about its origins, women are given the ability to develop off-the-charts upper body and core work from the workout types that step from pole dancing.
There are women ranging from their 20s, all the way up to their 60s at Chantelle Beasley's classes. There is also a healthy range of body-types.
“There are 60-year-olds who rock the pole better than some 20-year-olds,” says Beasley. “You don’t have to be a certain size, age or shape to take the class, and you don’t need to be an exotic dancer. It’s open to everyone.”
Eighteen months prior, the 21-year-old opened Aradia Fitness Studio within Sherwood Park, and that business venture floored friends and family. When her fiance Jud was deployed to Afghanistan three years prior, she registered for pole-dance classes, anxious to find ways to pass the time. She then became hooked on the pass time, as it was both a challenge and an “addiction”. She also took on an aerial silk class and rope-climbing class in order to complement her other skills in regards to mastering pole dancing.
“I hope to compete in the next two years,” she says, then laughs. “I’m not ready yet; I guess I’m too much of a perfectionist.”
The pole dancing is more than just another workout to many, as the fitness routines have grown into a series of personal challenges for students like Morgan Hay. “For me, it’s extremely empowering to walk out of the studio every day being able to do something I wasn’t able to do when I walked in,” says Hay, a second-year student at the University of Alberta. “It leaves you feeling strong and beautiful and confident and ready to take on the world.”
