Research Finds Scheduled Diet Key to Weight Control in Mice reports FatLossFactor101.org

(Food-Beverage-News.Com, September 27, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- Chances are that the number of data regarding weight loss has confused you more than once. There is an endless stream of promises and supposed “surefire techniques” to handle a widening array of weight control problems.

It may appear to many that the older generations were able to stuff their faces with a variety of fatty foods without concern for weight gain. Many would state that it did not appear that most individuals did not even exercise all that often. So how was that generation able to ‘beat the bulge’?

The answer is consistent home-cooked meals. Fresh food, with an emphasis on natural and nutrient-dense foods was the secret, along with a little physical exertion is all it takes.

Overall, being healthy takes well-known key factors such as eating healthy foods and moderate exercise (30 minutes or more a day). The other part of the secret that so many forget is that portion size has exploded in the last 30 years.

Research from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has shown that carefully scheduled diets can lead to reduction in body weight. Even those high diets high in fats can result in proper weight control. This is due to the fact that the body’s circadian metabolism, as it is convinced that it has plenty of food, and thus will not enter into a ‘starvation mode’.

The study showed that mice on a high-fat diet actually had a lowered body weight than other mice that had no scheduled diet. The scheduled diet allowed a unique metabolic state, wherein the ingested fats were not stored, and instead used for energy when food was not available.

Professor Oren Froy of the Institute of Biochemistry, Food Science and Nutrition, at the Hebrew University’s Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, noted in a report.

"Our research shows that the timing of food consumption takes precedence over the amount of fat in the diet, leading to improved metabolism and helping to prevent obesity. Improving metabolism through the careful scheduling of meals, without limiting the content of the daily menu, could be used as a therapeutic tool to prevent obesity in humans."
