(Food-Beverage-News.Com, June 26, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Men who are looking for a fling prefer women with more feminine features, according to a new evolutionary determinism study.
According to the research, feminine features including smaller jawbone or larger cheeks are linked to a woman's perceived attractiveness. Such items are seen as being stronger indicators of health, youth, and fidelity, according to the study.
Feminine features are also associated with higher levels of estrogen, which is linked to reproductive success. A series of studies on the factors of influence on mating has been focused on women, and has shown that they prefer hunkier men for a fling. The womens studies also noted that geekier men have been found to be better for settling down, likely due to the want to raise children.
In a new study, several hundred hetero males were volunteered, and a team of researchers created a composite picture set of women's faces. The men were asked to consider which would be best for long- and short-term relationships.
Each face had two versions, wherein one held more feminine features, while the other had more masculine features attributed to it. The faces were taken from both European and Japanese individuals, and composites in a mixing fashion.
Women with feminine features scored higher for steady relationships, and was even more prominently chosen when the male was already within a steady relationship.
"When a man has secured a mate, the potential cost of being discovered may increase his choosiness regarding short-term partners relative to unpartnered men, who can better increase their short-term mating success by relaxing their standards," wrote the study authors.
