(Food-Beverage-News.Com, December 07, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- Hollywood hunk, Matthew McConaughey, says there is nothing to worry about regarding his drastic weight loss he has purportedly taken up for a movie role.
“I feel fine. I really do,” says McConaughey tells the Daily Beast in a recent interview. The start noted that his regimen he stuck with to lose 40-lbs was done so in as healthy a way as possible.
Matthew has dropped down to a reported 183 lbs, but has stated that he followed a disciplined and intelligent system to lose the weight. Nonetheless, he says he hasn't totally quelled the chatter about his weight loss.
The role is for the upcoming release of Dallas Buyers Club, wherein the actor plays Ron Woodruff, who has constructed HIV.
"I'm eating fresh fish. I'm just eating small amounts. I'm not being starved," says the actor, who also says he's sleeping well. "If anything, it's as much a spiritual journey as it is physical."
While he insists that his body is “fine”, McConaughey stated that “everything has shrunk quite a bit. ... I don't have the leverage I used to. I have body soreness. ... [But] I'm as healthy as can be. My blood pressure, everything's fine."
In order to get back to his normal weight, McConaughey points out that he needs to follow just as stringent of a regimen as he did to lose the weight. He emphasized that it is not as simple as some may think, because one has to remain healthy as they gain the weight.
Soreness is a common problem that is associated with quick weight-gain, as the joints in the legs and especially the knees have to reacclimate to the added weight put upon them.
“You can't just start eating cheeseburgers and ice cream,” said McConaughey. “Your body will go into shock.”
The actor just landed two Independent Spirit Award nominations for his role in Magic Mike and Killer Joe, respectively.
